RAINIER

rainier
NOAA Ship RAINIER at Icy Bay.

Twin diesel engines, length 231 feet, beam 42 feet, draft 14.3 feet. Built by Aerojet General Shipyards in Jacksonville, Florida. In service 1968- still operational on the Pacific Coast and Alaska. Named for the great volcano Mount Rainier that overlooks the waters of Puget Sound.
