Schooner,
length 99.6 feet, beam 24.9 feet, draft 7.6 feet. Built in 1859 in
Key West, Florida. Acquired by Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1885.
Rebuilt in 1895 at a cost of approximately $50,000. This ship was
the last sailing vessel to be owned and operated by the Coast and
Geodetic Survey. In service1885-1915. Source of name unclear. Perhaps
strictly descriptive.
