Captain
Lorin F. Woodcock,
who has served since February 1941, and for the past 2 years
as Associate Director for Geodesy and Photogrammetry, retired
on September 1, 1968. His assignments have taken him to virtually
every section of the country, and he sailed aboard six Coast
and Geodetic Survey's ships. He was transferred to the Navy
in July 1942, and before returning to the Coast and Geodetic
Survey 4 years later served in the South Pacific aboard the
PATHFINDER and HYDROGRAPHER, both Coast and Geodetic Survey's
ships transferred to the Navy during the war. His last assignment
at sea was on the PATHFINDER, which he commanded in 1965.
Captain Woodcock is a 1940 civil engineering graduate of the
University of California in Berkeley, and holds a Masters Degree
in photogrammetry from Cornell University. He is a member of
a number of professional societies.
The Woodcock's were guests of honor at a party on August 22,
1968. They are moving to Oregon and will make their home there
near Medford.
