Mrs. Janette N. Shaw, wife of Lieutenant
Commander Charles Shaw, died in Manila on April 27, 1935.
Charles Shaw remarried and requested another tour in the Philippines.
He was attacked by a juramentado bolo-wielding native in late
1941 and seriously injured. He was still in the hospital at
the outbreak of WWII and was subsequently interred by the Japanese.
He never completely recovered from his wounds and died within
a month of returning to the United States following the war.
