Mr. A. Sengteller, who
had served continuously in the office as topographical engraver
for twenty-seven years died on the 11th of August, 1883. He was
a native of Poland, but came to this country from Paris in 1856.
His work was marked by strong characterization of topographical
details, combined with harmony of tone, and many of our best charts
bear witness to his skill. Mr. Sengteller had reached his seventieth
year.
